Frances Blaisdell Megarry, age 79, died on May 11, 2017 at a local care center after a long illness. She has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1996, however, she took a two-year vacation to Las Vegas. She retired after a long career as an accountant for the several business firms, the U.S. Government, and Colorado Springs Utilities. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and a Black Belt.
Frances May Blaisdell was born on September 8, 1937 in Seneca Falls, New York to the late Harold and Eleanor Lloyd (Crull) Blaisdell. She was raised in Seneca Falls and was a 1955 graduate of Mynderse High School. She excelled as a head majorette, a swimming instructor, and life guard. On December 28, 1955, she married William H. Megarry in New York and began her life as a military wife.
As a military family, they moved to California, France, and all over the continental U.S., with her most favorite place being France with all its beauty. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, became a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Battle Creek, Michigan Chapter), and belonged to the local Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Parish as she settled in Colorado Springs.
She enjoyed swimming, line dancing, Mandala art, shopping, travel, country and western music, and music from her era, especially the music of Elvis Presley. She attained her Black Belt in Universal Kempo Karate Schools Association at the age of 65 and proudly told people to be nice to her because she was a Black Belt. She enjoyed people and will be best remembered for her giggle, insatiable laughter, and warm heart.
Fran will be missed.
Fran is survived by her son Dian Patrick (Jan) Megarry; her daughter, Valorie (Scott) Mcmillan; her sisters, Linda (Dale) Shaw, and Jean Blaisdell (life partner, Don); her adopted granddaughter, Brigitte Keyes; and adopted grandson, Alex Keyes. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Stephen and Jeanne Blaisdell, Ella Blaisdell, Deb and Ron Hanes, Jason Shaw, Brooke Shaw, Heather and Rich Seymour, Michael Lanza, Brian Kolmer, and Ashley Hanes; and cousins and many friends.

Memorial Service will be held, 11:00AM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 601 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
She will be inurned in the Church Columbarium.
