Owners -Hal and Cindy Tumbleson

Hal Tumbleson moved to Colorado Springs in 1972 from Bethany, OK and is a 1975 graduate of Coronado High School in Colorado Springs.  He attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs for 1 year where he met Cindy Brown, a native of Colorado Springs and 1974 graduate of Palmer High School.  Hal and Cindy married in 1975. They have one daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chris Nordby of Colorado Springs.

They moved to Oklahoma City, OK in 1975 where they attended Bethany Nazarene College.  Hal later transferred to the University of Central Oklahoma and earned both an Associate Degree in Business Administration and an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science in May 1978. 

After Hal graduated he and Cindy returned to Colorado Springs where she earned her diploma in May 1979 in Piano Pedagogy from Nazarene Bible College.  Following graduation Cindy assumed responsibility for the Children’s Piano Program at Nazarene Bible College.  She taught piano in both private and classroom settings.

In addition to their individual careers, Hal and Cindy have owned and operated a mortgage and circulation company.  They were also successful in developing a profitable newspaper recycling program with Recycle America.

For the past two years Hal has been the Treasurer of the Colorado Springs Corvette Club, the largest Corvette Club west of the Mississippi River.  Cindy is currently working on her application to the Zebulon Pike Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She is also continuing her education at Colorado Christian University.

Hal’s Professional Career

Hal served his funeral director apprenticeship at Hahn-Cook-Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, OK and received his Oklahoma funeral director / embalmer’s license in 1978, a Colorado license in 1981 and Texas license in 1983.  Hal’s funeral experience includes 10 years of progressive management with Service Corporation International (SCI).  His service with SCI included Swan-Law Funeral Home and Chapel of Memories in Colorado Springs, and Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors in Houston, Texas.  As General Manager of Resthaven Mortuary and Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Hal managed and coordinated the construction of a new funeral home facility.  He also managed various other funeral homes in Oklahoma.

In addition to funeral and cemetery experience Hal has 8 years experience in the Mortgage and Finance Industry.  He served as Assistant Vice-President for Intermountain Mortgage Company in charge of loan servicing, acquisitions and secondary marketing as well as development of third-party broker relations and marketing.  During Hal’s tenure Intermountain Mortgage Company became the largest independent loan servicing company in the Mountain State Region servicing over one billion dollars in loans.

Cindy’s Professional Career

Cindy has had a life long affiliation with the funeral and cemetery industry.  She is the daughter of Arlen Brown and wife of Hal Tumbleson, both licensed funeral directors.  Cindy worked at both Moore Funeral Chapel and Resthaven Mortuary and Cemetery in Oklahoma as Office Manager and funeral support staff for 4 years.

In addition to her funeral and cemetery industry experience, Cindy worked 7 years in the mortgage servicing industry in investor accounting.  She was also Office Manager for Independent Western Mortgage Company’s loan production department with processing and closing responsibilities, as well as general accounting duties.  Cindy enjoys working for the National Business Office of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Inc in Colorado Springs.  She has served as bookkeeper, accounting support and membership services support.
